Two-Month Check-Up

On Tues, May 3, Jack had his 2-month check-up, though he's already nine and a half weeks old. While we thought he'd gotten quite heavy, he actually gained about five pounds in a month, taking him to 13 lbs 11 oz. A bit hefty apparently! The nurse practitioner suggested we try going a bit longer between feedings. Because Jack lost 10% of his birth weight (taking him from 7 lbs 1 oz to 6 lbs 6 oz by the time we left the hospital), we were told to feed him as much as possible. So this has obviously helped... and then some! He's officially wearing clothes that should fit a 3-month old, and while he's not far off from that age, we're to keep an eye on his weight for the time being. He's also grown a few inches taking him from 19 to 22 1/2.

Jack also had to receive his vaccinations - including whooping cough and polio. It was one of the worst moments since having him as he screamed and cried like I've never heard. By the time he had this three shots in his thighs, I was the one crying. Fortunately, he calmed down fairly quickly and was fine overnight, though they did warn that he might be a bit fussy and run a fever. We had children's tylenol on hand, but didn't need to use it. I was fortunate that Grandmum and Grandaddy were on hand to go with me to the doctor's office, as it made things much easier.
